How to Play Teen Patti – Rules, Hand Rankings & Betting
Teen Patti is played with a standard 52-card deck where each player gets 3 cards and the best hand wins the pot, ranked from Trail down to High Card. You can play "blind" (without seeing cards) or "seen" after paying to look. The rules below sit inside our broader Teen Patti Master hub.
This is the definitive ruleset used on Teen Patti Master tables, written for first-time players. Once you know the hands, our strategy guide shows how to apply them.
Hand Rankings (High to Low)
- Trail / Trio – three of a kind (A-A-A highest).
- Pure Sequence – three consecutive suited cards.
- Sequence – three consecutive, mixed suits.
- Colour / Flush – three same-suit, not consecutive.
- Pair – two cards of equal rank.
- High Card – no combination; highest card wins.
Betting Rounds
- Each player puts the boot (fixed stake) into the pot to start.
- Blind players bet half of what seen players bet.
- Players may pack (fold), call (match), or raise.
- When two players remain, a show reveals cards and the best hand wins.
Critical Analysis
The skill in Teen Patti is less about the cards and more about reading bet sizing and managing variance. A solid hand-ranking memory prevents the most common beginner error: misjudging a show.
